Slide-Out Won't Retract? Here's What to Do

It's checkout morning, everything's packed, and the slide won't come in. Take a breath — this is fixable, and forcing it is the one move that makes it expensive.

Safe Things to Check First

  • Battery voltage — slides are power-hungry; a low house battery is the #1 cause. Plug into shore power and try again.
  • Obstructions — anything wedged in the slide path, inside or out. Check the floor and the top of the slide.
  • The breaker/fuse — a tripped slide fuse looks exactly like a dead motor.
  • Park level — badly unlevel rigs bind slides. If your jacks moved overnight, re-level and retry.

What NOT to Do

Don't keep hitting the switch on a grinding slide, and don't push it in with bodies or a vehicle — a slipped cable or worn gear pack becomes a bent slide structure fast, and that's a different repair bill entirely.

When to Call

If the checks above don't move it, you need hands-on retraction — most systems have a manual override, but the procedure differs by brand, and getting it wrong causes damage. Our emergency slide retraction service runs 24/7 across North Georgia: we come to your site and get the slide in safely so you can get where you're going — and we'll tell you straight what the underlying problem looks like. Call (770) 519-2828 — day or night.
